Rita Redding Craven

Mrs. Rita Cleo Redding Craven, 87, of Asheboro, NC, died Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at GrayBrier Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday, October 22, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Armstrong and Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mrs. Craven was born July 31, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Sidney Redding and Ruth Anderson Redding. She was retired from Energizer after over 39 years of service and a member of Randolph Homemaker Extension Club. Mrs. Craven was a member of Central Wesleyan Church where she was the church secretary for more than 15 years. She was also the treasurer of Wesleyan Women International for 19 years, a class officer and a communion stewardess. She was an exceptional mother, faithful wife and devoted Christian. Mrs. Craven is survived by her daughters, Shirley Smith, of Phoenix, AZ, Brenda Craven, of Los Angeles, CA, and grandchildren, Sharalee Smith and Thomas Smith. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Monday, October 22, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home.
