Richard Lewallen

Richard Wayne Lewallen, 73, of Sophia, died Monday, November 30, 2020, at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. A private funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 6, 2020, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Clint Kearns officiating. The service will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/RidgeFuneralHome. Burial will follow at Mt. View Independent Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Lewallen was born November 21, 1947, in Guilford Co., NC., the son of the late Ethel Mills Lewallen and Clarence Lewallen. He was a member of Mt. View Independent Methodist Church and a good Christian man. He was an avid wood carver who made life sized hand carved birds. Richard was a loving husband, father and grandfather who had a wonderful dry wit. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his son, Brad Lewallen; half brother, Keith Lewallen, and step mother, Shirley Lewallen. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Pat Lewallen of the home; son, Mark Lewallen of Sophia; sister, Cathy Walker and husband James, of Fancy Gap, VA; brother, Donald "Donnie" Lewallen and wife Bonnie of Lewisville, TX; half brother, Tim Lewallen and wife Esther of Sophia; stepbrother, Johnny Rivers and wife Vicki of Trinity; and special grandson, Jackson Hinz. Mr. Lewallen's body will lie in state from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., prior to the service at Ridge Funeral Home.
