Mr. Richard Dale Culbreth, 85, of Asheboro, NC, died Monday, December 20, 2010, at Clapp's Nursing Center. A memorial service is scheduled for 12:00 pm Thursday, December 23, 2010, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Rogers officiating. A native of Davidson County, NC, Mr. Culbreth was born July 6, 1925. He was the son of the late Henley Clarence Culbreth and Erma Mae Westmoreland Culbreth. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he sang in the choir and the senior choir. He also was a member of a barber shop quartet. He was retired from Carolina Tire, was a bird enthusiast, was a wood craftsman and had, in the past, sold his wood crafts at the Fall Festival. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. In addition to his parents, Mr. Culbreth was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Crabtree, and his brothers, D.C. Culbreth, Joe Culbreth, Vernon Culbreth, Bill Culbreth and Paul Kelly Culbreth. Mr. Culbreth is survived by his wife, Emily Culbreth, of the home; daughters, Leigh Moser, of Pittsboro, NC, Janie Truelove, of Benson, NC, Kim Ward, of Asheboro, NC; brother, H. C. Culbreth, Jr., of Thomasville, NC; grandchildren, Rick Jackson, Jonathan Strider, Christi Ward, Stephen Truelove, Allyson Truelove; great grandchildren, Aubree Truelove and Logan Jackson. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm Thursday, December 23, 2010, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
