Richard Conley Church, 78, of Asheboro, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Asheboro Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Asheboro.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 31, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church, Asheboro, with Rev. Bryan K. Rummage officiating. Burial will follow at 3:45 p.m. at Lexington City Cemetery, with military honors my the Randolph County Honor Guard, and Masonic Rites provided by Masonic Lodge #473.
Born in Lexington, NC on July 21, 1946, Richard was the son of the late Leo Alexander Church, Sr., and Mary Ellen Coble Church. He graduated from Lexington High School, where he played football. Richard was a Vietnam veteran who proudly served in the US Army. He retired as the plant manager at ABB. He was a volunteer with East Side Fire Department for 30 years. Richard was a member of the Lexington Masonic Lodge #473 and Ducks Unlimited.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Leo Alexander Church, Jr.; father-in-law, John Wilson Lanning, mother-in-law, Evelyn Bates Lanning; niece, Selena Church; and niece-in-law, Lauren Thompson Gould.
Surviving are his wife, Carol Lanning Church; daughters, Leah Church Maness and husband Scott, Mary Church; grandchildren, Tori Drake and husband Lewis, Noah Gorrospe; nephew, Victor Church; niece, Helen Church; sisters-in-law, Myra Lanning Thompson, Laura Lanning Perry and husband Michael.
The family will receive friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service at the church.
