Recil Henry Cox, 91, of Asheboro, died Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Randolph Health and Rehabilitation Center in Asheboro. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 17, 2017, at Randolph Memorial Park with Pastor Jerry Johnson officiating. Born January 4, 1926 in Randolph County, Mr. Cox was the son of the late Vertis and Nora Cox. He founded Cox Harley Davidson, with his wife, Betty in 1961. Mr. Cox was a member of Crestview Wesleyan Church and he was a avid hunter. He loved motorcycles, they were his passion, he loved the sound they made and he could tell what was wrong with one by listening. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, attending rallies and watching racing, he also sponsored Ricky Farrington racing. Mr. Cox loved cats. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Sheffield Cox; sons, Jerry Cox and Gary "Poochie" Cox; and his sister, Bertha Mae Cox Spencer. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Cox of the home; daughter, Debbie Street; sisters, Charlene Maness of Bear Creek, Mildred Hoover and husband, Ed of Franklinville, Emogene Marley of Seagrove; brothers, Cleo Cox of Bennett, Laven Cox and wife, Doris of Seagrove; grandsons, Robbie Cox, Stephen Cox and Allen Cox; great-grandchildren, Andrew Cox, Sidney Cox, Avery Cox and Henry Cox. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday at Ridge Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 533 S. Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, NC 27203.
