Ray Wicker

Mr. Fred Raymond "Ray"� Wicker, 84, of Asheboro, NC, died Sunday, December 25, 2011, at Randolph Hospital. A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, December 29, 2011, at Oaklawn Cemetery with Charles T. Reeder officiating. Honors will be provided by the North Carolina Highway Patrol Honor Guard. Mr. Wicker was born December 12, 1927 in Sanford, NC. He was the son of the late Kenneth Melton Wicker and Margaret Irene Wicker. He was a graduate of Sanford High School and Elon College. Mr. Wicker served in the US Marines and was retired from the North Carolina Highway Patrol, where he served for over 37 years. He was an active member of the Asheboro Lions Club, and was a past president. Mr. Wicker is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Carolyn Spinks Wicker, of the home; son, Fredrick "Rick"� Wicker Jr., of Winston Salem, NC; daughters, Lisa A. Wicker, of Asheboro, NC, Leslie Duncan, of Asheboro, NC; grandsons, Patrick S. Duncan and Eric R. Duncan, of Asheboro, NC; and brother, Bernard R. Wicker, of Sanford, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm Thursday, December 29, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home.
