Ray Vuncannon

Vernon Ray Vuncannon,70, of Asheboro, beloved husband, father, grandfather and best friend passed away Monday, November 2, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 5, 2015, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marty Grainger officiating. Burial will follow at Callicutt Memorial Church Cemetery. A native of Randolph County, Mr. Vuncannon was born September 11, 1945 to the late Vernon Reece and Beatrice Vuncannon. He was employed by Modern History-Somerset Bay Furniture Company, where he enjoyed working. Some of his favorite things included racing, flying airplanes, traveling and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Lee Vuncannon. Mr. Vuncannon is survived by his wife, Brenda C. Vuncannon of the home; daughters, Christine Lawrence Smith and husband, Matthew Smith of Asheboro, Tammy Allen and husband, Doug Allen of New London; sons, Jimmy Vuncannon and wife, Pamela and Darrell Vuncannon and wife, Kathleen, all of Asheboro; brother, Ronnie Vuncannon and wife, Paula; grandchildren, Christopher Vuncannon, Ashley Vuncannon, Emma-Lee Allen, Teddi Green and husband, Adam Green, Casey Phillips; and three great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
