Ray Laughlin

Darrell Ray Laughlin, 60, of Asheboro, died Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 14, 2015, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Self officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. Born February 7, 1955, in Davidson County, Mr. Laughlin was the son of the late John and Martha Laughlin. He was a member and deacon of Calvary Baptist Church and worked as a Master Carpenter from 1977-2000, and later as an Over the Road truck driver. Mr. Laughlin was a member of the Open Road Driver Group and had driven several million miles between 2000-2010. He had a great sense of humor, was a chef at home, and had worked as a Chef in Washington state. Mr. Laughlin was a people person, his grandchildren were his pride and joy and his family and friends were the most important things in his life. His favorite hobbies were helping others and gardening. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Brown, Ruby Chapman; and brother, Johnny Floyd Laughlin. Mr. Laughlin is survived by his wife of 44 years, Judy Hill Laughlin of the home; son, Darrell Ray Laughlin II, and wife, Juliet Adair Laughlin of Charlotte; sisters, Cindy Laughlin Rumple of Thomasville, Susie Laughlin Brown of High Point; brothers, Glen Milton Laughlin of Sophia, Clifton Laughlin of Florida; grandchildren, Andrew Taylor Laughlin and Jacob Alexander Laughlin, both of Charlotte. He was also survived by many in-laws, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 13, 2015, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
