Mr. Bruce Ray Jarvis, 89, of Asheboro, NC, died Monday, December 13, 2010, at Randolph Hospital. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, December 16, 2010, at Fayetteville Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Adrian Pugh and Dr. Bruce Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of North Fork County, WV, Mr. Jarvis was born October 1, 1921. He was the son of the late Samuel Herbert Jarvis and Ella Mae Hudson Jarvis. He was a member of Fayetteville Street Baptist Church where he was a member of the adult Sunday School Class. He was retired from Klaussner Furniture and was a former employee of Hedgecock Building Supply. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jarvis was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Jarvis. Mr. Jarvis served in the US Army during World War II. Mr. Jarvis is survived by his wife, Lois Jarvis, of the home; daughter, Linda Needham and husband, Doyle, of Randleman, NC; son, Sam Jarvis and wife, Pat, of Asheboro, NC; step-daughters, Vickie Keene, of Asheboro, NC, Nancy Cole, of Summerfield, NC, Judy Pugh, of Grays Chapel, NC, Kathy Owens, of Asheboro, NC; step-sons, Billy Owens, of Asheboro, NC, Carl Owens, of Randleman, NC, Bobby Owens, of Asheboro, NC; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorial may be made to the Fayetteville Street Christian School, 151 West Pritchard Street, Asheboro, NC 27203.
