Raleigh D. Mcneill

Mr. Raleigh Dennis McNeill, 92, of Asheboro, NC, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Randolph Hospital. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Friday, March 8, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Rollins, Rev. Alvin Brooks and Rev. Jerry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. McNeill was born June 24, 1920. He was the son of the late Elijah McNeill and Zora Yow McNeill. An MP in the Air Force during World War II, Mr. McNeill was a master carpenter and builder, putting the finishing touches on many homes, churches and business establishments in Randolph County. Mr. McNeill was active in his attendance at Crestview Wesleyan Church. His greatest trait may have been his ability as a prayer warrior. A mighty man of God, Mr. McNeill was always on the lookout to help his fellow man in prayer, word and deed. Mr. McNeill had a spirit of excellence in everything he did. A common man with extraordinarily uncommon abilities, he fulfilled the scripture of standing before kings. He was skilled in his work. Making people around you better is something Mr. McNeill did constantly. He filled the dash between his birth and death with joy, happiness, love and selflessness. Mr. McNeill is survived by his wife, Thelma McNeill, of the home; sister, Julia Williamson, of Asheboro, NC; "brother"�, Sherrill McNeill, of Seagrove, NC; and many beloved nephews and nieces. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
