Quinton Winford Hussey

Mr. Quinton Winford Hussey, 87, of Asheboro, NC, died Sunday, October 30, 2011, at Carolina House. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at First Evangelical & Reformed United Church of Christ with Rev. Dale Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Moore County, NC, Mr. Hussey was born April 14, 1924. He was the son of the late Webster Hussey and Sarah Ida Ritter Hussey. He graduated from Asheboro High School and attended NC State University. He was retired from Randolph Electric Membership Corp. and served in the US Army during World War II. Mr. Hussey was a member of the Kiwanis Club for 50 years and he had perfect attendance for those 50 years. He served on the Asheboro Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years and he was the first life member of the Asheboro Jaycees. Mr. Hussey served 10 years on the Board of Water and Soil Conservation and he was an adult leader in the 4-H Club for many years. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Hussey, of the home; daughters, Beth Cox and husband, Craig, Sue Richey and husband, Robin, all of Asheboro; brothers, June Hussey, Sam Hussey, both of Asheboro; grandchildren, Stewart Bradley Cox and wife, Courtney Cox, of Fayetteville, AR, Caroline Elizabeth Cox, of Asheboro, and fiancé Thomas Andrews, of Apex, Emily Byrd Walker and husband, Stephen Walker II, of Smithfield. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am - 11:00 am Tuesday, November 1, 2011, in the fellowship hall at First Evangelical & Reformed United Church of Christ, and other times at the home.
