Pete Thornburg

Mr. Clarence "Pete" Rabon Thornburg, 78, of Asheboro, NC, died Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at The Randolph Hospice House. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Friday, April 18, 2014, at Huldah Baptist Church, where he was a member, with Rev. Mike Herring and Rev. Jimmy Shirlen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Thornburg was born September 3, 1935. He was the son of the late Clarence H. Thornburg and Nannie Allred Thornburg. He retired from Murrows Trucking in Thomasville, where he drove a truck for 40 years. He enjoyed watching Westerns, NASCAR, and golf on television, mowing his yard, mowing for others, and visiting with friends and family. Mr. Thornburg is survived by his wife, Diane Brim Thornburg, of the home; daughters, Kem Taylor and husband, Terry, of Randleman, Lynne Tyson, of Ramseur, NC; son, Allen Thornburg and wife, Maria, of Poquoson, VA; stepdaughter, Deidre Teague and husband, Chris, of Asheboro, NC; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home of Deidre & Chris Teague, 3997 Happy Hollow Road, Asheboro, NC.
