Paul M. Nelson

Mr. Paul Matthew Nelson, Jr., 68, of Denton, NC, died Monday, January 23, 2012, at his residence. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, January 26, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Conley officiating. Burial will follow at Flag Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery in Asheboro. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Guilford County, NC, Mr. Nelson was born December 26, 1943. He was the son of the late Paul Matthew Nelson, Sr., and Thelma Smith Nelson. He was employed with Fine Line Hosiery, was a member of the Farmer Civitans and attended Farmer United Methodist Church. He also loved to hunt and fish. Mr. Nelson served in the US Army Reserve. Mr. Nelson is survived by his wife, Debbie Nelson, of the home; daughters, Paula Gregory and husband, Billy, of Mt. Gilead, NC, Marci Nelson; son, Leonard Nelson; brother, Larry Nelson and wife, Sonya, of Sophia, NC; grandchildren, Tabitha Aldridge and husband, Cliff, Amanda Matthis and husband, Daniel, William James Gregory; great grandchildren, Adrian Aldridge, Landon Aldridge, Alyssa Aldridge, Dixie Matthis; nephew, Adam Nelson. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm Thursday, January 26, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Farmer Civitans, 3986 Old NC Hwy 49, Asheboro, NC 27205.
