Patricia Ann "Patty" Powell, 57, of Asheboro, died unexpectedly Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro, NC. Patty was born in Charlottesville, VA, on March 28, 1957, the daughter of the late Clarence and Rosa Lee Jones Powell. Patty loved children and having them in her life. She was a gentle spirit and provided loving words and encouragement to all children that she touched. She has impacted so many youth with her love and kindness. Patty made many friends and touched so many lives with her compassion and humbleness. Her greatest legacy will be the love she had for her girls. Michelle and Leslie are her greatest accomplishment and brought her the most joy. Being a Mom was her greatest strength. In addition to her parents, Patty was preceded in death by a baby sister, Grace Leigh Koldeway. She is survived by her children, L.E. Garrison, III, and wife, Melissa (Missy), and their children, Kelseann Winter and Brennon Eley Garrison, of Orange, VA, Michelle Wood and husband, Thomas, Leslie McKinnon and husband, Kevin, all of Asheboro; oldest brother, Andy Powell and wife, Kimberly (Moo), of Charlottesville, VA, baby brother, Clarence (Chip) and wife, Christy, of Dillwin, VA; sister, Jane Ellen Church, of Akron, OH; many nieces and nephews, and her most beloved four legged companion, Vixie. Patty will live in their hearts always. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at The Exchange, 204 S. Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, NC. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The Randolph Hospital Mammography Fund, Attn: Sherry Tate, c/o Randolph Hospital, White Oak Street, Asheboro, NC. Otherwise, flowers may be delivered to The Exchange on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, after 12:30 p.m. The family wishes to express great thanks to Randolph County 911 and Randolph County EMS for being there in our time of emergency. A special thank you to Christie McCorquodale for her help and calming direction to the family. Words will never be able to express the gratitude to Dr. Snyder, and the Emergency Room nursing staff for their honesty, compassion, and respect they showed the family during Patty's last hours. We have been blessed by her unconditional love and support. We will have her forever in our hearts.
