Pat Walden

Patricia "Pat" McDuffie Walden, 79, of Asheboro, died Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 20, 2017, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Knapp officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. Born December 23, 1937 in Randolph County, Mrs. Walden was the daughter of the late Ed and Olive McDuffie. She was retired co-owner of Burge Flower Shop. Mrs. Walden was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church and a former member of ABWA. She enjoyed spending time with her high school classmates and friends, known as the "Steel Magnolias". In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Sykes and Roy Walden; and her son, Mark Sykes. Mrs. Walden is survived by her daughter, Donna Sykes of Asheboro; and "adopted" children, Rhonda Lewallen, Kyla Cherie Hollar, Holly Davenport and Archie Stroud. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.
