Orene Akers

Frances Orene Morris Akers, 87, of Asheboro, died Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2020, at Randolph Memorial Park. Orene was born on April 8, 1933, in Randolph Co., to the late Floyd Morris and Virginia Trotter Morris. She had worked at Asheboro Hosiery, and she enjoyed yard work, crafts and spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Akers; sons, Terry McDowell, Perry McDowell, brothers, Bobby Morris, Albert "Bee" Morris; sisters, Faye Leonard, and Doris Deaton. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Allred of Asheboro; son, Jimmy McDowell and wife Kathy of Asheboro; five grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
