Opal Willard

Opal Frances Brim Willard, 88, of Asheboro, died Saturday, June 27, 2020, at Alpine Health and Rehabilitation in Asheboro. Born in Surry County, NC, on April 8, 1932, Opal was the daughter of the late Joe Raymond Brim and Vivian Ella Inman Brim. She enjoyed taking trips to Mt. Airy with her sister, going out to eat and spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Emmitt Edward Willard. Surviving are her daughters, Frances W. Embrey (Bobby) of Crooksville, OH, Brenda W. Cano of Ramseur, Janet W. McCain (Jerry) of Granville, OH; sisters, Leona Barber of Carthage, Linda Bean (Donald) of Asheboro; brothers, Raymond "R.J." Brim (Louise) of Sophia, Randle Brim (Jeannie) of Asheboro; grandchildren, Michelle Swaney, Myles McCain, Jaime Cano; and great grandchildren, Alex Brower and Paizlee Snipes. Due to restrictions for group gathering, a private funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at Ridge Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Bennett. All services are private, but Opal will lie in state at Ridge Funeral Home, 908 Albemarle Road, Asheboro, from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2020.
