Opal McMasters Bullard, 85, of Asheboro, NC, died Thursday, March 15, 2012, at The Randolph Hospice House. A funeral service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Sunday, March 18, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mrs. Bullard was born December 4, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Fletcher McMasters and Ila Leora Routh McMasters. She had worked for 24 years at Klopman Mills. After the plant closed, she went back to school, at age 55, and became an LPN. She then worked at Randolph Hospital until her retirement. She also was a Stanley Home Products dealer and hosted many parties and met lots of people. She was a charter member of Calvary United Methodist Church. Opal enjoyed ceramics, reading, working in the yard - especially with her flowers, talking on the phone, flea markets and yard sales. She truly enjoyed meeting and talking to people and never met a stranger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth McMasters and Betty Lou Lawrence, and her brothers, Ray McMasters, Cicero McMasters and Glenn McMasters. Mrs. Bullard is survived by her daughters, Doris Bridgers and husband, Wayne, of Concord, NC, Gail Price and husband, Lester, of Asheboro, NC; son, Larry Bullard and wife, Jackie, of Flowery Branch, GA; brother, Gene McMasters and wife, Shelby, of Asheboro, NC, grandchildren, Michael Bridgers, Aaron Bridgers, Jonathan Bridgers and wife, Kylene, Brent Price, Amy Price, Leslie Bullard, Lisha Bullard-Morris and husband, Kevin, Lora Lee Moretz; great grandchild, Liberty Ann Moretz. The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm - 2:45 pm Sunday, March 18, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at Opal's home. While flowers are welcome and appreciated, memorial contributions may be made to the Randolph Hospital Foundation, 364 White Oak Street, Asheboro, NC 27203, or to the Randolph County Senior Adults Association, 133 W. Wainman Avenue, Asheboro, NC 27203. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs of Randolph Hospital Home Health, North Pointe of Asheboro and Hospice of Randolph County. A very special thank you to her nephew, Randy James and his wife, Sherry, for all the kindness and support that they had shown to Opal.
