Onarah Solomon Efird, 93, formerly of Randleman,went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 7, 2017, at Covenant Christian Church, Asheboro with Rev. Lois Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at St. Martin's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Albemarle. Born April 14, 1924 in Stanly County, Mrs. Efird was the daughter of the late Lonnie and Esther Mauldin Solomon. She was a Godly example to those around her. She dearly loved and took care of her family. Mrs. Efird provided child care for many children. She regularly attended the Randleman Senior Citizens Center, where she was affectionately called "Sunshine". Mrs. Efird enjoyed playing bingo and she attended Covenant Christian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Johnnie Efird; sister, Colleen McSwain; brothers, Leonard and Cular Solomon; son-in-law, Jimmy Maness; and granddaughter, Tina Maness Tunstall. Survivors include her daughters, Opal Cross and husband, Bobby of Franklinville, Sue Maness of Asheboro, Patricia Hill and husband, Jessie of Greensboro; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff of Clapp's Nursing Home for their loving care of Mrs. Efird.
