Mr. Norman Kenneth Nixon, 79, of Asheboro, NC, died Monday, June 6, 2011, at Randolph Hospice House. A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 am Thursday, June 9, 2011, at Oaklawn Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Garner officiating. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Nixon was born February 8, 1932. He was the son of the late Elmer Clayborn Nixon and Berta Pugh Nixon. In addition to his parents, Mr. Nixon was preceded in death by his brother, Larry "Buck" Nixon. Mr. Nixon is survived by his wife, Agnes Nixon, of the home; daughters, Wilma Bare and husband, Tony, of Level Cross, NC, Carolyn Street and husband, James, of Valdese, NC, Teresa Davis and husband, Lewis, of Asheboro, NC, Tina Williamson and husband, Bill Fontana, of Asheboro, NC; son, Donald Nixon, of Bristol, VA; sister, Joyce Douglass and husband, Walton, of Fayetteville, NC; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am - 10:30 am Thursday, June 9, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Randolph, PO Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204.
