Mrs. Norma Thompson Pike, 86, of Asheboro, NC, died Saturday, May 11, 2013, at The Randolph Hospice House. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 16, 2013 in the chapel mausoleum at Randolph Memorial Park with Rev. Mark Ryman officiating. A native of Chester, PA, Mrs. Pike was born July 24, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Donald Carlos Thompson and Mildred Feteroff Thompson. Mrs. Pike was a long time resident of Asheboro, but grew up in Roanoke, VA and attended Roanoke College. In 1945 she married her husband of 65 years, David C. Pike. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Joshua M. Newton. She was primarily a homemaker. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Asheboro. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cross stitch and needlepoint. For many years, Mrs. Pike served as a docent at the NC Zoo. She is survived by her three children, Donald F. Pike, of Covina, CA, David N. Pike and wife, Cindy, of Tupelo, MS, and Deborah P. Newton and husband, Eric, of Asheboro, NC. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Jonathan Newton and wife, Kara, of Asheboro, NC, Jeremy Newton and wife, Rebecca, of King, NC, Jesse Newton, of Asheboro, NC, Megan Pike, of Tupelo, MS; and five great grandchildren.
