Norma Swaney Carter

Mrs. Norma Jean Swaney Carter, 74, of Randleman, NC, died Saturday, June 29, 2013, at The Randolph Hospice House. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mrs. Carter was born April 26, 1939. She was the daughter of the late William Daniel Swaney and Clara Mae Kinley Swaney. She was a graduate of Farmer High School and had worked at Asheboro Hosiery Mill, the cafeteria at Randleman Middle School and Jockey International. She attended First Christian Baptist Church, Randleman, and was a caregiver to those in need. She loved to garden, especially roses, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Mrs. Carter is survived by her husband, Robert Carter, of the home; son, Lee Carter and wife, Teresa, of Randleman, NC; sisters, Ellen Presnell, of Asheboro, NC, Carolyn Cox and husband, Gary, of Sophia, NC; brother, Winfred Swaney and wife, Mary, of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Warren Sibbett and wife, Brittany, Zachary Carter, Brooke Carter; great grandson, Weston Sibbett. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Monday, July 1, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
