Myrtle Hollingsworth

Myrtle Davis Hollingsworth, 96, of Randleman, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at her home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 18, 2018, at Sophia Christian Church with Rev. Hugh Spaulding and Stan Frye officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. Born November 2, 1921, a native of Randolph County, Mrs. Hollingsworth was the eldest daughter of the late Lewis and Lula Davis. She graduated from Trinity High School and Centenial Beauty College. Myrtle owned and operated Sophia Beauty Shop for 60 years. She was a member of Sophia Christian Church, where she played the piano for over 50 years and taught primary Sunday School classes for many years. Myrtle was a member of New Market Home Extension Club and a Hospice volunteer for 10 years. She enjoyed her family, crocheting, scrap booking, photography and working in her flowers. Myrtle loved having Bible study in her home and having friends over to play cards and games. Her main job was to teach and encourage her children to serve the Lord with all their heart. In addition to her parents, Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Ray Hollingsworth; son, Ted Hollingsworth; brother, D.S. Davis; sister, Myra Whitesell and her husband, James. Survivors include her daughter, Beth Bullins (Roger) of Randleman; Ken Hollingsworth (Judy) of Duncanville, TX; daughter-in-law, Debbie Hollingsworth of Randleman; grandchildren, Nathan Hollingsworth (Crystal), Carrie Hollingsworth, Robert Hollingsworth (Dana), Kayla Hollingsworth, Anne Fondren (Jay); and great-grandchildren, Micah, Will, Ben, Elijah, Davis, Mae, Ella, Wesley and Cole. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m., prior the service at Sophia Christian Church and other times at the home.
