Mildred Dupree Tonkins

Mildred Azilee Moore Dupree Tonkins, 89, of Asheboro, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at Universal Healthcare in Ramseur. Born in Moore County, NC on April 24, 1931, Mildred was the daughter of the late Alfred Virgil Moore, Sr. and Ossie Clyde Sanders Moore. She retired from Rampon Hosiery Mill after 26 years of service. Mildred was a member of West Asheboro Baptist Church. She also did volunteer work at Randolph Hospital, Hospice of Randolph and The New Hope Bereavement Center. In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her first husband of 33 years, Rev. Odis Dupree; her second husband of eight years, Fred Tonkins; son, Stephen Dupree; brothers, Clarence Moore, Marvin Moore, Gilbert Moore, Rev. Leonard Moore, Roger Moore, Rev. A.V. Moore; sisters, Mamie Brown, Delsie Brown, Radie Smith, Mary Lee Allen, Essie Long, Betty Greene and Darlene Cockman. Surviving are her daughter, Sherry Tate and husband, Willie of Asheboro; daughter-in-law, Judy Dupree of Asheboro; brother, Wayne Moore of Cameron; grandchildren, Kimberly Clodfelter (Bryan), Bryan Dupree (Maggie), Jordan Luther (Maddie), Laura York (Josh), Alexandra Underwood (Taylor), Crystal Simpson (Bryan), Tommy Tate (Corrina), Eric Tate (Tasha); great grandchildren, Owen York, Annie York, Lucy Claire York, Emily Bullins, Sara Bullins, Drew Bullins, Dalton Clodfelter, Georgia Mae Underwood, Amelia Luther, Blakely Dupree, Stephen Dupree, Grace Poole, Evy Poole, Christian Simpson, Hunter Simpson, Elizabeth Simpson, William Simpson, Layla Tate, Ty Tate; and several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Due to restrictions for group gatherings, there will be a private graveside service on Friday, May 15, 2020, at Hopewell Friends Meeting Cemetery, with Rev. Sam Hicks officiating.
