Mildred Lydia Hawkins, 87, of Asheboro, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 31, 2019, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. J.C. Miles officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. Mildred was very strong willed. She loved her family and went to Asheboro Pentecostal Church until her health declined. She worked at Mid-State Paper Box, she never met a stranger, loved to cut up and act crazy. You could always find her singing and singing "Oh How I Love Jesus". Her favorite color was pink and she loved the beach. She was always real neat in her appearance and "loved them long finger nails". She loved coffee, puff corn, tootsie pops, chocolate, and chewing gum. Mildred will carry a special place in all of her families hearts who will miss her. She was one of a kind. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Andy Hawkins; son, Eddie Michael; daughter, Rhonda Gail; parents, Alexander Jarrell and Mary Murray Jarrell. Surviving are her daughters, Lisa Zachary and husband Richard of Asheboro, Patricia Humble and husband Clinton of Ramseur; brother Jerry Jarrell and wife Devon of Asheboro; grandchildren, Jonathan Ferree, Tina Varner and husband Rodney, Casey Nicholson, Megan Coats and husband Josh; 10 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 30, 2019.
