Mildred L. Hammer

Mildred Louise Lucas Hammer, 86, of Asheboro, NC, died Sunday, September 4, 2011, at Randolph Hospice House. A funeral service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Thursday, September 8, 2011, at Landmark Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro. A native of Montgomery County, NC, Mrs. Hammer was born August 19, 1925. She was the daughter of the late John Lucas and Ruth Estelle Shuping Lucas. Mrs. Hammer had worked for Asheboro Hosiery Mill, Bost Neckware, and was a member of Landmark Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Harrison Bunting; and son, Chuck Bunting. Mrs. Hammer is survived by her daughter, Jayda Hamilton, and husband, R.L., of Asheboro, NC; sister, Nannie Nichols, of Asheboro; brothers, Ed Lucas, of Lexington, NC, Jones Lucas, of Camden, SC; granddaughter, Lauren Bunting. The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm - 2:45 pm Thursday, September 8, 2011, at the church. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph County, PO Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204.
