Michael Jefferson Hanes, 62, of Seagrove, died Friday, March 18, 2022, at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 20, 2022, at New Union United Methodist Church, with Rev. Lynn Cash officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. Michael was born in Dorchester County, MD on June 28, 1959. He was an upholster at Klaussner Furniture for over 35 years. Michael was a member of New Union United Methodist Church. He loved the outdoors, sports, traveling,cooking, fishing and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed going to history museums, NASCAR, and helping his friends. He was a avid sports fan and he scored the 1st touchdown at Southwestern Randolph High School. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cyndee Cagle Hanes and his father, Fredrick Allen Hanes, Sr. Surviving are his daughter, Natalie Dawn Hanes (Seth Young) of Asheboro; sons, Justin Michael Hanes (Jessica Warf-Hanes) of Asheboro, Carl Benjamin "Ben" Junkin (Beth) of Monroe, MI; mother, Brenda Joyce Hamm of Asheboro; grandchildren, Caiden Gabriel Flippen, Jaxson Adam Hanes, Charlotte Junkin, Wyatt Junkin, Jessalynn Hanes; brothers, Fredrick "Freddie" Hanes, Jr. (Mandy), Gregory Hanes (Revonda), Keith Hanes (Lisa) all of Asheboro, Timothy Hanes of New London; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hal and Betty Jo Cagle of Asheboro; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, prior to the service in the fellowship hall at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to New Union UMC, 1293 Union Church Road, Asheboro, NC 27205; or to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
