Michael Bloom

Michael "Mike" Glenn Bloom, 56, of Asheboro, died Saturday, February 22, 2020, at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Charles Reeder officiating. Michael was born on May 11, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York. He was educated in Brooklyn, was well know for playing basketball and was nicknamed "Rocky". Michael was an avid sports fan who loved NASCAR, the UNC Tarheels and the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed playing poker. He was preceded in death by his father, Barry David Bloom; and uncles, Junior Greaves, Sammy Greaves and Steven Greaves. Surviving are his mother, Margaret Bloom Foust of Asheboro; sister, Deena Payne and husband Brandon of Asheboro; girlfriend and caregiver, Mary Grant and her family; beloved godmother, Dee Scafidi of Asheboro, aunts, Meredith Keough, Marie Greaves, Monique Greaves, Michelle Greaves-White all of New York; and numerous extended family and friends, both near and far. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service at Ridge Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204.
