Melita Mae Cooper Dixon, 91, of Asheboro, died Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at Panther Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. Joey Greene and Rev. Dale McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Mrs. Dixon was born on April 22, 1928 in Randolph Co. to the late John Charles Cooper and Mertie Mae Bean Cooper. She was a member of Panther Creek Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and a member of The Women's Mission. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John J. Dixon; daughter, Annie Beane; and brothers, Garland Cooper, June Cooper, Paul Cooper. Surviving are her son, Ricky J. Dixon (Robin) of Asheboro; sister, Grace C. Craven of Asheboro; grandchildren, Justin Dixon (Ashley) and Keri Dixon (Makana); great-grandchildren, Joshua, Holly, and Brianne. The family will receive friends at Panther Creek Baptist Church from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2020, prior to the service. The family would like to an extended a heart felt thanks to the whole staff at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home.
