Melba Welch, 93, of Asheboro, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro. Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Friday, June 23, 2017, at Oaklawn Cemetery with Pastor Kim Snyder officiating. Born July 28, 1923 in Pikeville, KY, Mrs. Welch was the daughter of the late Sam and Stella Sharpe. She was a resident of Asheboro, NC since 1978. Mrs. Welch was a member of Asheboro Assembly of God. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allie Welch; daughter, Ruth Welch Mundy; twin sister, Doris Willoughy and sister, Irene Brown. Survivors include her daughters, Mary Welch Clifton and husband, Vance of Asheboro, Elaine Welch Hill and husband, Jerry of Thomasville; grandchildren, Robin Clifton Rogers, Anthony Clifton, Arron Clifton, Dana Mundy, Alex Mundy, Steven Mundy, Angela Mundy, Jeffrey Hill and Tammy Hill Davis; 13 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 10:30 -11:30 a.m. Friday at Ridge Funeral Home, prior to the service.
