May Slone Howard, 75, of Asheboro, died Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at the Beacon Place at Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 16, 2018, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro with Charles Reeder officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service until 5:00 p.m. A private burial will be held at Randolph Memorial Park. Born February 9, 1943 in Pikeville, KY, Mrs. Howard was the daughter of the late John M. and Stella T. Slone. She loved cooking, gardening and talking with family and friends. She was known to make the best pickles and cakes in town. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary E. Howard; infant sisters, Ada & Ida Slone; sister, Lurcy S. Kendrick; and brothers, Nathaniel Slone, Joe Slone and Ellis Slone. She is survived by her son, Bryan Howard and wife, Lora of Julian; sister, Sarah Bryant and husband, Dewey of Pemberville, OH; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Slone of Pikeville, KY, Johnnie Slone of Asheboro, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
