Max Small

Mr. John Max Small, 80, of Asheboro, NC, died Thursday, December 26, 2013, at The Randolph Hospice House. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, December 29, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Hunt and Rev. Mack Summey officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Small was born December 4, 1933. He was the son of the late William Clay Small and Blanche Lenora Briles Small. He enjoyed mowing the yard, transporting cars, and singing with the High Rock Singers. He loved spending time with the family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Small was preceded in death by his sister, Vae Robbins. Mr. Small is survived by his wife, Edith Swaney Small, of the home; sons, Michael Small and wife, Brenda, of Farmer, NC, Dean Small and wife, Jacky, of Asheboro, NC; sisters, Maxine Thompson, Eutha McPherson and husband, Ed, all of Asheboro, NC; brother, Jerry Small and wife, Eula, of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Nicole Ewing, Kelly Hughes and husband, Richie, Amber Small, Shane Small, Nathan Small, Mandy Small; step-grandchildren, Samantha Ritter, Jacob Ritter; great grandchildren, Milea Canoy, Cameron Canoy, Hayden Hughes. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
