Mattie S. Mcdowell

Mrs. Mattie Sue Simmons McDowell, 77, of Asheboro, NC, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at High Point Regional Hospital. A funeral service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Saturday, May 25, 2013, in the Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Copple officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mrs. McDowell was born April 23, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Grover Horace Simmons and Bertha Ella Corder Simmons. She had lived in Oxford, NC and was a wonderful grandmother. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McDowell was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton McDowell; daughter, Debra McDowell; brothers, Ralph Simmons and Raeford Simmons. Mrs. McDowell is survived by her brother, Kenneth Simmons and wife, Sylvia, of Seagrove, NC; sister, Ruby Bennett, of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Nicole Hardin and husband, Geoffrey, of Forest City, NC, Jamy Parris, of Forest City, NC, Matthew Hilton and wife, Amie, of San Diego, CA, Jenna Reynolds and husband, Michael, of Richlands, NC; and 9 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home.
