Mattie Freeman Brown

Mrs. Mattie Beatrice Shehan Freeman Brown, 94, of Ramseur, NC, died Sunday, February 3, 2013, at The Randolph Hospice House. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Friday, February 8, 2013, in the Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Harvell officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro. A native of McDowell County, NC, Mrs. Brown was born January 15, 1919. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Tilden Shehan and Rissie Elizabeth Wallace Shehan. She was a member of Maple Springs Baptist Church in Seagrove and worked at G.E. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Freeman; son, Curtis Freeman, Jr.; grandchildren, Brian Johnson, Chris Johnson, Dean Freeman, and Randy Freeman. Mrs. Brown is survived by her daughters, Janet Johnson and husband, Garland, of Asheboro, NC, Joanne F. Peterson, of Ramseur, NC; son, Boyd Freeman, of Seagrove, NC; sister, Betty S. Garner, of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Tina Coltrane Payne, Mark Johnson, Harvey Freeman, Dawn Bedsaul, Gary Freeman, Kelly Freeman, Vickie Gordon, Lisa Garner; 18 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home of Joanne Peterson.
