Mary Helen Baldwin Spencer, 78, of Asheboro, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at her home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Rev. Lois Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed on Ridge Funeral Home's official Facebook page. Born in Randolph County, NC, on September 21, 1942, Mary was the daughter of the late Alfred Baldwin, Sr. and Jessie Belle McDonald Baldwin. She graduated from Central High School and Asheboro Business College. She worked at Nantucket Hosiery Mill and then for many years stayed home to care for her family. Mary was a awesome mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved listening to gospel music, talking to her friends on the phone and watching her favorite soap operas. Mary loved spending time with family and friends and always wanted to have cookouts to gather everyone together. She was a member of Covenant Christian Church for almost 20 years. When she was able, she always loved being in the House of the Lord. She would encourage other in the Lord and share her testimony and all the Lord had done for her. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Andrea Stokes and sisters, Lois Melvin and Queenie Reddrick; and brother, Alfred Baldwin, Jr. and Jimmy Leadbetter. Mary is survived by her husband of 56 wonderful years, George A. Spencer of Asheboro; son, Gary L. Spencer (Jennifer) of Ramseur; son-in-law, Brett Stokes, Sr. of Conroe, TX; sister-in-law, Lillie Baldwin of Greensboro; brothers-in-law, Garland Melvin of Raleigh and Rueben Reddick of Durham; grandchildren, Stephanie Spencer of Ramseur, Stacey Winston of Seagrove, Joseph Brower of Asheboro, Danielle Wade of Winston-Salem, D'atra Spencer of Randleman, Gloria Spencer of Greensboro, Brett Jr., Brandon and Breshod Stokes all of Conroe,TX. Also surviving are her nieces, Tonie Baldwin McNair, Bridgette Walker and Tomica Melvin; nephews, Patrick and Gordon Baldwin, Marcus and James Reddick; and a host of many great grandchildren, and other family and friends. The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 14, 2021. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, 416 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC 27203.
