Mary Elizabeth Shelton

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth McNeill Maness Shelton, 93, of Asheboro, NC, died peacefully surrounded by her family Thursday, August 21, 2014, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro, NC. A funeral service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Sunday, August 24, 2014, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Kidd, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. Mrs. Shelton was born May 16, 1921, daughter of the late Alexander Lester McNeill and Martha Jane Luther McNeill of Moore County, NC. She was retired from Acme McCrary Hosiery Mill and had served as a volunteer at Randolph Hospital. Mrs. Shelton is survived by her daughter, Peggy Maness Wood, of North Chesterfield, VA; daughter-in-law, Minnie H. Maness; granddaughter, Shelia J. Maness; grandsons, John B. Wood, III, Charles M. Wood; great grandson, Joshua D. Wood. She was preceded in death by daughter, Catherine J.M. de Nerville; sons, F. Ronald Maness and Jack T. Maness; five sisters and four brothers. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm Sunday, August 24, 2014, at Ridge Funeral Home.
