Mary Lou Overman Allred

Mary Lou Overman Allred, of Asheboro, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2026.

Funeral arrangements will be finalized in the coming days.

Mary was born in Randolph Co., the daughter of the late Jesse Overman, and Kate Collins Overman. She first graduated from Liberty High School, and then graduated from Elon College to get her start as a stenographer and later graduated from High Point College where she began her new career as a teacher which she did for many years until later graduating with her Masters' from NC A&T and began teaching the academically gifted students of Randolph County until her retirement in 2003.

She will always be remembered by her love of teaching and devotion she had to her students. She had a strong faith which was reflected by her her favorite holiday Christmas where she loved to decorate and get into the season. Mary took great pride in her appearance and would dress her best for any occasion. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family. Mary will be remembered by her strong will and great independence and the legacy that she left, giving others the gift of knowledge.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her 12 siblings.

She is survived by her sons, Alan Allred, Mark Allred; and her beloved grandson, Bradley Allred.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Clapps Convalescent Nursing Home for the special care given to Mary.
