Mary Hunter

Mary Gale Roberts Hunter, 81, of Asheboro, died Friday, March 16, 2018. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Pete Lamb officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Memorial Gardens. Born September 3, 1936 in Madison County, Mrs. Hunter was the daughter of the late William "Bud" and Blanche Roberts. She attended Iron Mountain Baptist Church and was the world's biggest Carolina basketball fan. Mrs. Hunter was a honest woman, good wife and mother. She loved her large family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Ruby Roberts; sister and brother-in-law, Belva and Ham Crowe; son-in-law, Donald Grove; and sister-in-law, Sheena Roberts. Survivors include her husband, Charles Hunter, Sr. of the home; daughters, Norene Grove of Seagrove, Blanche Nixon (Bobby) of Asheboro, Rosie Faircloth (David) of Pleasant Garden; sons, Chuck Hunter (Patsy), John Hunter (Cindy), Scott Hunter (Trissi), Mitch Hunter (Jenny), all of Asheboro; sister, Judy Ray (Harlon) of Weaverville; brother, J.H. Roberts of Asheboro;, grandchildren, Robbie Boothe (Kimberly), David Faircloth, Jr. (Sara), Jacob Helms (Devon), Nathan Helms (Megan), Melissa Hill (Justin); great-grandchildren, Kasey, Natalie, Lizzie, Annabelle, Ethan, Logan, Grayson, Hunter, Jackson, Trevor, Grant, Adaleigh; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved, Rita. The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Ridge Funeral Home, prior to the service and other times at the home.
