Mary Blake Hicks

Mrs. Mary Frances Blake Hicks, 86, of Asheboro, NC, died Monday, February 17, 2014, at The Randolph Hospice House. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Miller Rev. Adrian Pugh and Dr. Bruce Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. A native of Montgomery County, NC, Mrs. Hicks was born December 4, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Walter Preston Blake and Lena Webb Blake. She graduated from Candor High School, Class of 1945. Mrs. Hicks was retired from Kayser-Roth. She attended Pleasant Union Community Church and was a member of Fayetteville Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, working in her flowers, mowing with her John Deere lawnmower, and talking to her friends on the phone. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by her husband, Neil D. Hicks; sister, Elizabeth McCallum; and brother, Pratt Blake. Mrs. Hicks is survived by her daughter, Wanda McDowell and husband, Maxton, of Asheboro, NC; son, Walter Hicks and wife, Sherri, of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Brian Hicks and wife, Amy, of Asheboro, NC, Brittany Hicks, of Spartanburg, SC, Brooke Hunt, of Asheboro, NC, Brandon Hunt and wife, Robin, of Erect, NC; great grandchildren Shalon Hicks, Mason Hicks, Kamron Leake, Kamiya Head, and Kainan Hunt. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
