Mary Austin

Mrs. Mary Ellen Porter Austin, 69, of Asheboro, NC, died Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Randolph Hospital. A funeral service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Sunday, December 9, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro. A native of Alamance County, NC, Mrs. Austin was born August 17, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Paul Thomas Porter and Elvira Jeanette Bradshaw Porter. She was retired from Jockey International. After retirement she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Austin was preceded in death by her sister, Patsy Smith Blake, brother, Wayne Porter and granddaughter, Brandi Cooper. Mrs. Austin is survived by her husband, Henry E. Austin, Sr., of the home; daughter, Teresa L. Cooper and husband, Rob, of Asheboro; son, Earl Austin, of Greensboro; sisters, Nancy Wall and husband, Wayne of High Point, Ann Presson and husband, Sam, of Supply, Vicky Michael and husband, Ricky, Shirley Wyatt, all of Burlington; brother, David Porter and wife, Gail, of Burlington; brother-in-law, A.C. Austin and wife, Mary, of Reidsville; sister-in-law, Patsy Abrahamsen and husband, Jim, of Burlington; grandchildren, Jessica Austin, Ryan Austin, Lea Austin, Troy Austin, Fara Austin, Austin Grace Cooper, Jessica Manea, Kristin Cooper, and Luke Cooper. The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm Sunday, December 9, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
