Martha Mildred Simmons Davis, 87, of Asheboro, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Alpine Health and Rehabilitation in Asheboro. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2021, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Asheboro, with Bishop Daryl Alexander officiating. Entombment will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. Born in Caswell County, NC on May 31, 1934, Mildred was the daughter of the late Porter Gold Simmons and Minnie Alice Terrell Simmons. She was retired from and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Asheboro Ward. Mildred was a faithful churchgoer, who was devout in her religion. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crafts. Mildred was independent and liked to do things on her own, but she always enjoyed helping others. In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Edward Davis; daughter, Theresa Daniels; sisters, Dorothy Herndon, Claudia Clayton, Alice Harrison, Leona Mise, Elsie Overman; brother, Billy Simmons; and grandson, Brian Eugene Davis. Surviving are her daughter, Cynthia Pizzola of the home; son, Lee Davis (Linda) of Hartwell, GA; stepdaughter, Brenda Hayes (Lowell) of Waldorf, MD; stepson, Gary Davis (Margaret) of Kissimmee, FL; son-in-law, Ray Daniels of Asheboro; brothers, James "Jimmy" Simmons, Clifton Simmons, Gilbert Simmons, all of Burlington; grandchildren, Janna Daniels, Lindsey Pizzola, Erik Hayes, Jared Hayes, Joshua Hayes, Brooke Fox, Candas Elder, Hannah Clark, Betheny Porter, Rachel Ross; and 16 great grandchildren. Mildred will lie in repose from 12:30 until 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 7027 Albert Pick Road, Greensboro, NC 27409.
