Martha Brown

Martha Ellen Glenn Brown, 91, of Asheboro, died Monday, October 30, 2017 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scotty Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery, Randleman. Born October 24, 1926 in Randolph County, Mrs. Brown was the daughter of the late William and Mae Glenn. She graduated from Randleman High School and retired from the circulation department of The Courier-Tribune. Mrs. Brown delivered Meals on Wheels for 17 years along with Iris Williams. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Asheboro for 66 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Hill. Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband of 67 years, Irvin Brown of the home; daughter, Lynn Barham and husband, Don of Cornelius; sons, Mike Brown of Winston-Salem, Reid Brown and wife, Terri of Asheboro; sister, Lou Hill and husband, Don of DeKalb, IL; brother, Bill Glenn and wife, Sue of Randleman four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 p.m. Saturday at Ridge Funeral Home, prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Mt. Lebanon UMC Cemetery Fund, 119 W.
