Marlene Joyce Seavey York, 59, of Asheboro, NC, died Friday, August 7, 2015 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro, after an extended illness. Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 am, Monday, August 10, 2015, at the Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, NC. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Armstrong. A native of Rumford, ME, Mrs. York was born September 16, 1955, the daughter of the late Sherman Seavey (father), and late Charlotte and William Thomas, Sr. (mother and step-father.) She was a member of Zion Praise & Worship Center where she loved to sing in the choir. She was the only person able to get her husband to sing in the choir occasionally. Mrs. York loved her animals, which she called "her babies." In addition to her parents, Mrs. York was preceded in death by her sister, Gladys Mae Seavey. Survivors include her husband, Eugene York, of the home; sister, Lisa Tilley and husband, Joey, of Winston-Salem, NC; brothers, Kenny Chase, of Lexington, NC, Phillip Seavey and wife, Harriet, of Concord, NC, Billy Thomas, of Hebron, ME; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Ridge Funeral Home.
