Marie Woodell

Lila Marie Beane Woodell, 90, fell asleep in the arms of Jesus on August 31, 2016. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her during her illness and ultimately gave her peace. Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Panther Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Frank Barrett officiating. Marie was a native of Randolph County, born on August 12, 1926 to the late Isom and Lydia (Brown) Beane. Marie was a seamstress and retired from Fox Apparel in Randleman where she sewed back pockets for many years. She was kind, soft-spoken, and loved serving her church. She also had a passion for cooking, especially with her late sister, Ester Woodell. Marie was the very best mother, grandmother and great-grandma ever; she loved nothing more than spending time with them and telling them how much she loved them. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be dearly missed by her loved ones who are celebrating in the fact that she is at peace with her creator. Marie was blessed with a loving family. She married her best friend, Ernest Woodell on August 27, 1944. She is survived by her daughter, Rose Hogan and husband, Kenneth of the home; granddaughter, Candy Neal and husband, Rodney and great-grandson, Aaron of Asheboro. She is also survived by her nephew, Tommy Woodell and wife, Joyce of Robbins, who were loving and dedicated. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Woodell; and her brothers and sisters. She was also preceded in death by her son, James Woodell. Marie faithfully attended Panther Creek Baptist Church for many years and more recently attended Landmark Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2016 at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home. The family would like to express gratitude to the many caregivers who provided compassionate care during Marie's final days.
