Marie Lunsford

Marie Lambert Lunsford, of Asheboro, NC, died Friday, June 12, 2026, at her home in Julian, NC.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, 908 Albemarle Road, Asheboro, with Dr. Rob Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.

Born December 7, 1937, in Stanly Co., NC, Mrs. Lunsford was the daughter of the late Rufus Frank Lambert and Frosie McIntyre Lambert. She retired from Energizer and was a member for over 60 years at Oakhurst Baptist Church. Marie was the true matriarch of the family, dedicating her life for her family. She never missed an opportunity to spread positivity, motivate others and let everyone know they are special. She did everything for everybody and loved to cook. When you couldn't find her helping someone in need, you could find her in working in the yard and tending to her plants.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lunsford was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Rufus E. Lunsford, Sr. , and her son, Rufus "Dude" Lunsford, Jr.

She is survived by her daughters, Crystal L. McCracken (Ron) of Julian, NC, Deborah L. Williams (Joel) of Asheboro, Christine L. Craven of Asheboro; sister, Gaye Talbert of Albemarle; grandchildren, Christopher Wood of Julian, Savannah Green (Steven) of Ramseur, Seth Craven (Brandi) of Franklinville, NC, Kaycee Moran (Addison) of Seagrove; Taylor Lambeth (Adam) of Thomasville, Alannah Williams of Asheboro, Tia Lunsford of Denton, Jake Lunsford of Seagrove; great grandchildren, Nora Wood, Eli Craven, Cassie Craven, Allie Moran, Maci Moran, Miley Moran and Evelyn Kelly.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., Tuesday at Ridge Funeral Home prior to the service.
