Maria Luisa Merced Mariano

Maria Luisa Merced Mariano, 72, of Asheboro, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 18th at her home, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on June 21, 1954, in Acapetlahuaya, Guerrero, Mexico. She shared 59 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Malaquias Calixtro, and together they were blessed with 10 children.

She is survived by her husband, Malaquias Calixtro; her 10 children, Cira, Esperanza, Maria, Felicitas, Isidra, Francelia, Alejandro, Janet, Yolisbet, and Dalia; grandchildren, Christian, Maira, Ivan, Oscar, William, Giovanny, Daisy, Briceida, Jennifer, Dianna, Edwin, Isabella, Isaac, Jorge, Jayden, Juan, Alexa, Allison, Jason, Emily, Sheidy, Alexander, Alondra, David, Adrian, Melanie; and 19 great-grandchildren. Watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow was her greatest joy.

She was a woman of deep Catholic faith, strength, and great devotion to her family. She enjoyed gathering her family together, cooking with her daughters, caring for her plants daily, and going to the flea market. Keeping her family united was her greatest legacy she left to the family. She fondly kept the tradition of eating Chinese food on Saturdays after Mass. She loved spending time with her pets: her little dogs (Jacky and Solovino), her parrot (Pico), and her doves.

A funeral mass will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 25, 2026, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Asheboro, with Father Ramiro Tijerno officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park.

A private family viewing will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Ridge Funeral Home in Asheboro.

Fue una mujer de profunda fe católica, fortaleza y gran devoción por su familia. Disfrutaba reunir a su familia, cocinar junto a sus hijas, cuidar de sus plantas a diario e ir a la pulga. Mantener a su familia unida fue la herencia más grande que le dejó a la familia. Mantenía con cariño la tradición de comer comida china los sábados después de misa.

Amaba pasar tiempo con sus mascotas: sus perritos (Jacky y Solovino), su perico (Pico) y sus palomas.

La misa de funeral se celebrará el viernes 25 de septiembre de 2026 a las 2:00 p.m. en la iglesia católica St. Joseph, en Asheboro, oficiada por el padre Ramiro Tijerno. El sepelio tendrá lugar a continuación en Randolph Memorial Park.

El jueves 24 de septiembre de 2026, se llevará a cabo una visita privada para la familia de 4:00 p. m. a 6:00 p. m., y la familia recibirá a las amistades de 6:00 p. m. a 8:00 p. m. en la funeraria Ridge Funeral Home, en Asheboro.
