Marguerite Jane Lanier Nance, 93, of Denton, died Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Universal Healthcare in Ramseur. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 25, 2021, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Charles Reeder officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Fellowship Church Cemetery, Denton. Born on May 4, 1927 in Davidson County, NC, Mrs. Nance was the daughter of the late James Frank Lanier and Elma Martha Russell Lanier. She was a homemaker, seamstress, and a very creative person. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, doing ceramics, gardening and her flowers. Mrs. Nance was an excellent cook and there was always enough food for everyone. She and her husband allowed "Robin Sage" Special Forces to train on their land beginning in 1962, and occasionally fed the soldiers. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nance was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Nance. Surviving are her daughter, Nan Nance Pike and husband Don of Staley, sons, Doug Nance and wife, Sue of Denton, Alton Nance and wife Martha of Denton; sister, Betty Jo Yates of Denton; grandchildren, Brandi Michele Nance, James Nicholas Nance and wife K.C., Ryan Alton Nance, Adrienne Moody and husband Spencer, Anna Pike Nixon and husband Doug, Brad Pike and wife Sarah; great grandchildren, Ashton Hardister, Chelsie Hardister, Haylee Nance, Chase Simmons, Charlie Nance, Addison Pike, Levi Nixon. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m., Sunday, prior to the service at Ridge Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
