Margaret Powk Jones

Mrs. Margaret Powk Jones, 84, of Asheboro, NC, died Sunday, February 17, 2013, at The Randolph Hospice House. A graveside memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Flag Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Barry Queen officiating. A native of Monessen, PA, Mrs. Jones was born February 20, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Charles Basil Powk and Anna Almasi Powk. She was active in community affairs and helped her husband in his endeavors as county commissioner and mayor. She retired as a telephone operator for AT&T after 30 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Jones, Jr.; sisters, Marie Jukbala, Ann Stott, Sophia Hyrchak, Betty Powk, Helen Labeka and brother, John Powk. Mrs. Jones is survived by daughter, Cheryl Knestrick, of Asheboro, son, Thomas W. Jones, of Berlin, PA; grandchildren, Kevin Knestrick, Garrett Knestrick, Christopher Knestrick, Joshua Jones, Gwen Jones; and six great grandchildren. The family will receive friends following the service.
