Mamie Freeman Hare

Mrs. Mamie Esther Freeman Hare, 98, of Seagrove, NC, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Center. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Friday, May 30, 2014, at Center Cross Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Pastor Grant Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mrs. Hare was born March 21, 1916. She was the daughter of the late Neil Bailey Freeman and Ora Jane Richardson Freeman. Mrs. Hare was retired from the American Can Company in Los Angeles, CA. She enjoyed doing crafts, gardening and sharing the bounty with her family and friends. She was famous for her fried apple pies. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hare was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Hare; brothers, Walter Freeman, Joe Freeman, Dempsey Freeman; and sisters, Annie Wilson, Lee Freeman, Nellie Beane, Conie King, Gladys McLeod and Mildred Chriscoe. Mrs. Hare is survived by her sisters, Stacy Cornelison, of Asheboro, NC, Rachel Smith, and husband, Leslie "Buster" of Asheboro, NC; brother, Wesley Freeman and wife, Nellie, of Asheboro, NC; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home of her sister, Stacy Cornelison. Memorial contributions may be made to Center Cross Baptist Church, 1789 Center Cross Church Rd, Asheboro, NC 27205; or to the charity of the donor's choice.
