Maggie Mcdowell

Mrs. Maggie Loretta Goins McDowell, 86, of Asheboro, NC, died Thursday, January 5, 2012, at The Randolph Hospice House. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, January 8, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Rollins officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mrs. McDowell was born January 25, 1925. She was the daughter of the late William Harvey Goins and Nellie Cox Goins. She retired from Pinehurst Textiles and she attended Crestview Wesleyan Church where she taught Sunday school for over 50 years. She was also the YMWB director at Crestview Wesleyan Church from 1964 to 1979. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Glenn McDowell; sister, Irene Goins; and brother, Earl Goins. Mrs. McDowell is survived by sons, Billy Robert McDowell, of the home, Bobby Lee McDowell and wife, Terrie, of Randleman, NC; sister, Lucille Lambe, of Asheboro, NC; brother, Auther Goins and wife, Norma, of Asheboro, NC; grandson, Lee Caleb McDowell, of Randleman, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
